Hi
I've got a Compaq Evo N160 Notebook that runs an
ATI Radeon Mobility M6-P Graphics Controller.
I've installed FreeBSD on it and it works fine at
the command line.
When I try to install XFree86 I run into
problems. Version 4 installs then I use the script XFree86
-configure.
It comes back with a message saying it has found
a valid configuration for the card but ... unfortunately it cannot write the
configuration i.e.. it does not create the Xf86config file.
XFree86-4 is suppossed to support the ATI Radeon
Mobility chipset, but apparently not in my case.
I'm not a total novice and have had success
installing linux, freebsd and Xfree86 on other machines, mind you I am no guru
either and would appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.
Id particularly like to hear from someone who has
had success with XFree86-4 and this exact chipset.
Regards
Dan
