This was mentioned at the first video fest and I suppose it might be in
the archives or the papers still online..
DVR is an unknown format to me and nothing I've ever used has it.
Perhaps someone else can enlighten people on this.
All the software I have mention is actually image(still), although I
have then taken them to make a movie (time lapse stuff).

I was just responding to someone who seemed to be learning to walk
upside down and gave them some basic tips. Bt848 capture cards have been
around for a while, they can give a reasonable result and there is
plenty of software to play with them. I think most people actually use
them for tv/movie/radio in the computer.
The camera is where most people come a cropper as they are all very
manual. Nothing like their still or movie camera. So I always point
people at the Allthings WWW site because they can find a host of
information on lenses, focal length, etc. This will at least get them
started on the right track.
Most surveillance uses that I know of have been companies watching
staff, or shops watching customers to point out future unwelcome
customers. Companies rarely bother with the courts these days.

You want to be careful about making offers like that {:-) as they might
get you lined up to give a talk at a fest.
