Hi folks, Having no end of trouble installing a backward compatible package for Java to run on 2.4 kernel. This is the rpm command:
rpm -ivh compat-libstdc++-6.2-2.9.0.14.i386.rpm This is the error: error: only packaging with major numbers <= 4 is supported by this version of RPM google reports lots of examples of this error with <= 3. I'm running the latest production rpm. rpm --version RPM version 4.0.3 Any ideas? What's a major number when it's at home? How do I get this package installed so that I can run java 1.3 under a 2.4 kernel?
