Can you boot off you Debian installation CD, press [F3] for help and
follow the rescue instructions. This should (depending on what has
really happened) put you into a single user session of your current
Debian installation. Running "lilo" again should re-install your old
lilo settings (assuming you were using lilo) and then try re-booting of
the HDD.
If I've interpreted your problem correctly.
