Just in case there's interest, recent versions of GDM include a
'flexiserver' feature, that can start up a new session in either a
full-blown new X server, or an Xnest.

It's pretty sweet when you want to let someone log in when you're using your
machine. Just click Foot > System > New login, and up pops a login screen
for them. Your X server is still there in the background, locked with
Xscreensaver if you have it installed.
