No, however the OP specifically mentioned using a Netgear router, and your
only contribution was to suggest he look at IP{Chains,Tables}. I made an
attempt to correct your apparent error.

We can't know what your thinking, only what you write. Considering that the
OP seemed fairly newbieish, it would be a fair assumption that they're going
to need their hand held - so just mentioning IPTables isn't going to get
them very far.

You may have been thinking 'replace the Netgear with a Linux router and put
IPTables on it' but since you didn't mention it in your post, we can only
assume you thought that running 'iptables -A -t nat -p tcp
-s ! $SQUIDBOX --dport 80 -j DNAT --to $SQUIDBOX:3128' (or similar) on a
Netgear router was somehow going to make everything work fine.

The problem is you didn't supply the OP with nearly enough information to
even begin to answer their question.

And everyone else has the right to submit their 2c worth to supplement other
people's half-correct answers. If anyone has a problem with that, they
might consider either (a) Only answering when they actually know the answer,
or (b) Not taking everything on the 'net so fscking personally.

Oh, and cut the TOFU. There are netiquette guidelines for a reason. (Don't
take it personally).
