You should make a comparison of the valid lines in the sources.list and the ones you are having trouble with.
These are valid lines: > deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free > deb http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US stable/non-US main contrib non-free > These are not: > deb http://mirror.pacific.net.au/debian/unstable main contrib non-free > deb http://mirror.pacific.net.au/debian-non-US/unstable/non-US main contrib non-free > Try this: deb http://mirror.pacific.net.au/debian unstable main contrib non-free deb http://mirror.pacific.net.au/debian-non-US unstable/non-US main contrib non-free Or use what pacific.net.au seem to be recomending: deb ftp://ftp.debian.pacific.net.au/debian unstable main non-free contrib deb ftp://ftp.debian.pacific.net.au/debian-non-US unstable/non-US main contrib non-free apt-get update and you are away... I wouldn't suggest mixing stable and unstable sources like you are... it can only cause trouble. -Colin p.s. You From: address is still out of wack.
