Yes it's called alias.
it will have to be an ip address in the same subnet mask
range. I think ( Well that is all I use it for)
what you can do if you have a gui is run netcfg
can add an ip address and select ethx or you can go
to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and copy ifcfg-eth0 to ifcfg-eth0:0
and any other files that have eth0 in the name. then modify the
files by replacing eth0 with eth0:0.
