It was brought up at tonight's slug meet an issue with pppd and the iprimus pops.
I am aware of the same problem happening with a redhat 7.2 machine up in Queensland dialling into an iprimus pop up there. The issue I found up there was that you could irc/mail/ssh etc perfectly fine (for a few hours), but as soon as you did a few mins of web surfing (or simply doing mail/ssh for several hours alone) pppd would have a dummy spit complaining about losing compression and pretty much not allow you to transmit data at all until you redialled. The way I found to fix this issue was to add the pppd option noccp to /etc/ppp/options This problem happens to appear only on the iprimus isp, as the same box/config works flawlessly on other isps such as ihug and optusnet. -- Anton Winter http://myrddin.org GPG key id: 0x5B15EDE6
