No I don't have rpmbuild, because I could be bothered trying to find out
what was exactly wrong. I downloaded the source for db3 and rpm compiled
both and now I have a real and working rpm system. :)

I have rpm-4.0.3 and now it behaves like redhat's rpm rather than mandrakes
rpm :)
