Wine is Free, distributed under the LGPL.
Crossover is a proprietary product produced by Codeweavers, who also
fund wine development. Most of what they're doing is just simplifying
the installation and use of specific win32 software packages under wine.
I'm a huge fan of the Crossover plugin, which lets you use win32 plugins
in Linux browsers. The setup program can automatically download and
install plugins, it automatically copies the actual Linux plugin to the
appropriate place for your browser, and sets up KDE/GNOME menu entries.
I agree with greeno. If Crossover Office is half as good, they're onto
a winner.
My project for this weekend will be to get Starcraft and/or Thief
running under wine..
