Just to reply to my own post I present the following.
"The value is passed transparently as a string to the code that uses the
option. Common value formats are integer, boolean, real, string and
frequency. The following boolean option values are recognised as meaning
TRUE: "true", "yes", "on", "1", and no value. The values recognised as FALSE
are "false", "no", "off", "0"."
