I thought they were for smoothing out the power feeding into your equipment, and to give you a chance to shut down gracefully in the event of a power failure? My problem is the power supply inside the computer, I believe. Hmm. Good point, though. I'm also running all this through a power surge protector, and *that's* probably not rated to handle the current going through it either. So I think you're right, I should upgrade to a decent UPS too. Do the APC units work well with Linux drivers, to accept the power failure etc. messages sent via the serial line? > Cooling could be your problem too. Are things better soon after powerup?
