It ought to load the module automagically in Debian, too (if not already
built it). Should I assume you're using the default kernel?
Have a look at the output of lsmod, and the contents of /proc/devices. I'm
using the -newpmac kernel (recommended for machines like ours), which has
all of the cdrom stuff built in.
