I would recommend a /usr/local partition too (especially if you're using
debian).

Hard to say, if you're using it as a desktop/normal server, I'd go for
512 Meg swap.  However you'll find the best answer is suck it and see
;-)

Depends on your usage on the original.  /usr and /var usually get hit
quite hard (depending on your setup), but doubling their size could be
an overkill.
