Thanks Trevor. Must be a different version of Mandrake (or is it Gnome??? Still trying to get my head around the different 'things' in Linux. My config is a crossed spanner and screw driver, but I did work out what you meant (pat myself of the back for my incredible smarts). Trouble is those options you gave me weren't there :(. If they don't look like > this, make them look like that and see what happens. Hi again, I tried as you said to change the settings with a text editor, but it wouldn't let me save them. I logged in as root and as user to try to do it, and neither would let me save. I'm logged into my 'windowsy kinda thing (Gnome???)' as user, so don't really know how to make sure I'm using root (except in terminal - I can do that). Gawd, I sound like a dummy.
