Hi all,

I've just got vmware running on my machine. Its using a pre-installed
Win98 on a separate partition. The machine was previously a dual boot
with both OS's using the same IP address.

My question is:

How do I have the virtual Win98 session and Linux use the same IP address?

My samba share and all other network services dont work in a vmare
session, but they work ok when I boot natively into Win98.

I've tried using 'bridged' and 'NAT' but neither seem to do the job.

An output of ifconfig looks like:

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:80:AD:86:D4:ED
          inet addr:10.27.1.4 Bcast:10.27.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

vmnet1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:56:C0:00:01
          inet addr:172.16.242.1 Bcast:172.16.242.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

vmnet8 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:56:C0:00:08
          inet addr:192.168.146.1 Bcast:192.168.146.255 Mask:255.255.255

(unimportant bits deleted)

The 'actual' IP address is 10.27.1.4

Am I asking for the impossible?

Regards,

Andy
