This is quite ironic.  Years ago when Linux was first being ported to the 
Sparcs, the developers frantically got a compatible Sunos/Solaris system 
call compatibility layer working so that they could run Sunos/Solaris 
binaries.  I remember it being a big deal when netscape could be run on a 
sparc linux box.

Now that it looks like Solaris for intel is being phased out, they want to 
make sure that their binaries can run under Linux intel!
