Hi,
When I record music using an ESS1371, gramofile, and the OSS
drivers in 2.5.17 (but the problem seems to be unrelated to kernel
version), the result is awful. It sounds as if the input filters are
overloading or skew-rate limiting or something. Recording at a lower
volume gives better results. The input isn't clipping -- I see 10% of
the samples above 50% volume, and none above 90% (I'd actually like to
record at even higher volume, to get further above the noise floor).
Is this a known problem with this soundcard? Or is it a driver
issue?
