You're using motion, right?
You may find it easier to work with the images if you use the
"oldlayout" option in the config file, which will put all images in the
one directory.

As Terry said, mpeg_encode is good for this. I've used it in similar
circumstances - hopefully I'll be able to find the config file tonight.

Not sure if it's what you're after, but motion has hooks to
automatically use mpeg_encode to create movies of motion events. Check
the documentation.

Look into the "framerate" and "gap" config file parameters for motion.

Motion has a very concise manpage. If you installed it from a Mandrake
package, you should also find more documentation in /usr/doc/motion (but
it could be elsewhere).
As for mpeg_encode, google will find the homepage, but I think Terry
covered it fairly well.
