Hey Sluggers, Just wondering about some basics for starting X with a remote Xserver.
The situation is that I have an old 486 X client(maybe) running a script that does this at startup: exec /usr/bin/X11/X -query 192.168.0.5 which gives me X - no window manager or anything, just a screen and mouse cursor. .0.5 is a Debian sid box with KDE and Xfree4 on it. How do i get KDM and KDE to run on the client? Is there a script that you can make the X server run on the client if clients connect to it? or is it a case of the client having the scripts and running them from there? If anyone can clear this up for me and perhaps provide a neat example to get kdm/kde started it would be much appreciated. - btw this particular machine is for computerbank's project.
