Hi Henry,
Just a suggestion....if you are used to getting your mail using outlook express from your ISP's mail server then I can suggest you use Ximian Evolution (a linux mail program for those addicted to outlook). Their website is http://www.ximian.org or if you install redhat 7.3 it comes included in that distribution (and is supported under most *nix's). You can currently find it on the aarnet mirror ftp://ftp.aarnet.edu.au/raid/2/ximian The reason why I suggest this is that you can access your mail same as you did with outlook in windows and forget about running something locally on your machine, just set your smtp and pop/imap settings. Hope that helps :) Melinda On Tue, 4 Jun 2002, henry wrote: ::Dear List: :: ::After half a year ,I am ready to switch to linux, ::the last thing holds me to win98 is email . :: ::I am in a company with ISP-service,there is a gateway. ::I can easily get my email from outlook(win98) :: ::Should I install mail-server in RedHat like sendmail ? :: ::I have modified the item "disable" from "yes" to "no" for ::/etc/xinetd.d/imap,imaps ,ipops ,ipop3 ,pop3s respectively :: ::But I still cant receive my mail by type ::> mail ::Could you give some advice ? thanks! :: :: ::BestRegards' ::Henry :: -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
