Subject: Which process is dialling out

Hi all,
I have a RH7.2 system as my internet server at home on a 56K dial-up modem.
I have two minor problems with ppp

1. The system dials up at seemingly random times even when all workstations
are shutdown - I can find where it is dialling in the logs but can't find
any refernece anywhere as to what process or program is causing it, is this
recorded anywhere. Or is it just RH phoning home? I know my XP box does this
whenever I login as the modem consistently fires up....nothing in the mailog
or squid log though.

2. If we do not connect in a certain amount of time (somewhere about 24
hours) then the pppd process dies and I get no dialout until I telnet in and
restart it and then sometimes I have to restart xinetd and init and then
pray

This is my connect string :
usr/sbin/pppd connect /usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/ppp/default
This is my options file:
/dev/ttyS1 57600 crtscts noipdefault demand defaultroute idle 1500

Is there anything there that is causing this or is there anything I should
add to make it permanent?
