If anybody is interested:

I posted a notice about my machine locking up. It was a new intel
mboard, with a 1.4 G CPU PIIII, wich was repeatedly locking up.

I eventually tracked it down to the intel etherexpress driver not
working with the onboard intel camino ethernet chipset.

I disabled the onboard ethernet and pluged in a PCI realtek 8029, voila,
1.5 weeks and no lockup, in particular, when using my machine as a
remote X window term.

I don't know exactly what the problem is, and since I can't get any of
my recompiled kernels to run, I don't even get a trace, so I guess that
this will remain a mystery to me for a while yet.

From the postings on some of the mail lists, it looks like a memory
resource problem, but what the hey.

Cheers

Erich
