No experience with SuSE/SaX but I'd try

1) Try CTRL-ALT-BKSP to kill the X server.  However, it will probably just
keep respawning.  If it does;
2) Try pressing CTRL-ALT-F1 when you get your out of range error.  This
should flick you back to a console.  Login and then reconfigure X.
