Yes, I tried to put RH 7.2 on a Compaq Proliant 1850R and it had all sorts of problems. Essentially it involved problems with Anaconda. In the end I used the Xiamin version of RH 7.2 and it worked.
BTW I also tried to install Mandrake 8.0 on this box and it would not work at all. RH 7.3 will install but only by text mode the graphics install fails. And yes generic boxen have less problems. my two cents worth.
