Thanks Tony,
The boot up sysytem on my laptop was installed last year at the Avalon surf club
Instalfest.
The hard disk was partitioned using partition Magic 6 and Linux loaded onto half of it
leaving Windows98 on the rest. It froze up when the kids were playing a game under
windows.
The startup sequence was: switch on, the Toshiba screen, the words on a black
background "stage1" (pause, then next to it) "stage2", then a colored window with text:
What operating system do you want to use?:
Windows
Linux
Floppy
Now it is: switch on, the Toshiba screen, then "stage1 _" with the underscore blinking.
It does reads the floppy first and the diagnostics have performed the check on media
descriptor, FAT, dir structure, file system, free space and surface scan.
I am not sure what to do after that when I get the A:>
I have copied the tomsrtbt to a hard disk BUT I have not made a floppy disk 'toolkit'
out of it I am my wife's work computer that does not allow me to shut and restart in
MS-DOS.
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
yours,
Stephen Mouat
