in the config for your dialup connection ( e.g. /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0 for redhat) there should be a couple of lines that say "REMIP" and "IPADDR". I'm assuming the "IPADDR" is for you to specify an address to be used on that interface...the "REMIP" would be the address of the gateway which you may need to also specify.
