Do you have "bigdog" in your /etc/hosts file on sage?
/etc/hosts on sage should look something like this
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.1 biogdog.my.home bigdog
{assuming bigdog's IP address is 192.168.1.1, of course}
