Hi Brendan,

If you are looking for a what appears to be a good desktop distribution
that does not install in a bloated way look at Lycoris Desktop/LX
(www.lycoris.com). This installs only the packages needed to do most tasks
and they seem to be well sorted. In other words it does not install heaps
of half finished software. They have an excellent community site with lots
of information (www.lycoris.org). I have just installed it and I am still
just playing with it, it uses a modified form of KDE 2.2 to look like XP,
so it eases the transition for XP users.

Another desktop alternative I have recently read about is OE One Home Base
Desktop. This is a Mozilla based desktop that runs over Red Hat 7.1. Read
more at www.oeone.com most reviews are positive and another guy i spoke to
loves it. (I must admit I am yet to try it).

Regards
Paul Copeland
