   SLUG Forum:

This month SLUG will be attempting to run our very first SLUG Forum!

The forum will open with 3 or 4 speakers giving their opinion on the
topic at hand, and then we will open the Forum to the floor.

This month's topic: The Free Software Desktop. Where Is It Going?

We're still looking for speakers, so if you can give a reasonably
informed opinion on this topic for 5 minutes please email
[EMAIL PROTECTED] with a summary of your position on the Free
   Software Desktop.

   SLUGlets:

Sluglets are for people new to Linux, or who are looking for
discussion of a milder nature than the techie talk. Feel free to come
share your experiences with Linux, to get help, or to provide it.

   Techie Talk:

Adrian will be briefly covering what is involved in writing a
long-lived efficient network server. Although the language focus will
be C, quirks in some other languages may be discussed. The talk will be
aimed at people somewhat familiar with programming and UNIX
   environments.

Adrian has been involved in open source projects since 1999. His
network programming contributions have focused around Squid
   http://www.squid-cache.org/ and the Hybrid-7 ircd
http://www.the-project.org/. You can find information about his
   various presentations at http://www.creative.net.au/talks/
