ok. Now that I've seen the installed package list it seems that you do
have xfs installed but probably not running. Switch back to:
FontPath "unix/:-1"
and do
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs restart
then startx. Though I don't know why just using fontpaths didn't work...
Actually, run
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs status
first. That will tell you if it claims to be currently running, which I
suppose is really just academic, but I'd be interested to know.

why are you using "noipdefault"? does it not work otherwise?
If you're having problems with this I really recommend using linuxconf.
Can any other sluggers give some help here? I'm not very good with
dialup systems.
