Indeedy, though freedom from reading manuals should be the
goal of Linux distributions :-)

I've installed many Linux's after all sorts of Windows OS's
and never had a problem.  As long as you do it after, not before.
Even then it's not a biggy, as long as you can boot from the
linux cdrom and do a lilo -R install.

It's only the NTFS resizing that would be a problem.
