Thanks, here's what I found out:

1.      File > AutoPilot > Document Converter

        This allows you to batch convert files from M$ and StarOffice.
        I used it to convert all my M$ templates to OO in one hit.  Wow!

2.      Command Line

        You can run OO macros from the command line but you need to hard code
some of the parameters etc for automatci scripting.  See:
