Gentlepeople,

For one reason or another I have decided rather ahead of my planned
schedule to go broadband (probably iiNet, comments...).

I was planning to get a D-Link DSL-100D PCI internal ADSL modem which I
can pick up for about $170.

Is this a good choice and does it work with linux and my proposed
service provider?

AFAIK, it acts as an ADSL (G.dmt or G.lite)/Ethernet bridge, is that
correct?

Am I making a mistake getting an internal ADSL modem, i.e. should I
consider one of those modem routers which are quite a bit more expensive?

It will probably go directly on my gateway server initially, but maybe
it might be better to put it on and old 486... (thinking out loud)

Any comments from anyone who has experience of these things would be
appreciated.

TIA.

Brendan
