On Thu 03 Oct, andrew fries bloviated thus: > Here's one little thing that bugs me: 2SER (community radio station in > Sydney) broadcast on line, but sadly they require Windows Media Player > 7. My question: is there any way of playing such stream in Linux?
Yes, mplayer is able to play this stream. You'll need to do some jiggery-pokery in the HTML to find the actual link is: http://138.25.162.211:8080 Except, surprise surprise, the stream is actually down right now. In fact I have had it working only once when I've tried. Guess they should try using an operating system without these problems. From memory the stream is actually supplied by the Progsoc folks at UTS, who should know better. However I know some people who worked on the dog's breakfast they call a web site and apparently the project management was really poor. And yes, the ABC is really annoying with their use of Realplayer, but at least we can listen to it. Their email is a black hole, I send an email every few months complaining about it and never get a response. The biggest problem with the ABC site is that they stream at 20k which sounds appalling. Considering the quality of radio here in the UK, I love listening to Triple J but the quality is so poor it's too painful to listen. It might work find for Radio National or Radio Australia but Triple J plays music. Considering most people have _AT LEAST_ 56k modems now, and that many many ex-pats have broadband either at home or work, surely they can upgrade it? Most annoying. Ogg would be the icing on the cake. -- Rev Simon Rumble <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> www.rumble.net Send email with subject "send key pub" for public key.
