Hi all:
I was happily running woody stable on my new Inspiron 4100 laptop for
few months, when I felt the sudden urge to bring the system to latest
testing packages. I downloaded and installed packages ok. When I rebooted
the machine, X-window failed to start. Checking through the Xfree86.log,
found it complaining "Unable load GLcore". I commented it out and installed
the latest Nvidia driver and restart. This time got even worse. It flashed
three times, turned into blank then all the pixels started to get brighter
and brighter. I was horrified by all these and shut the machine down the
hard way. Since I set X-window to automatically start when boot, I can't
even access my machine now.
Has anyone got similar experience or knows how to fix this problem? If
not, how can I restore my X-windows back to stable version?
Also, I need to know how to force the box boot to single mode, I forgot.
:-( Oh, Yes! the graphic chip is Nvidia GeForce 2 Go (mobile).
Please, respond as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Xun.
