I'd like to setup RH7.3 with Apache 1.3.x for virtual web hosting; I know very little about *nix file system structure, and, *nix in general; but, would like to come up with something that can be easily managed....
I was going to use the domain name as the user name, but it seems there is 8 char. limit on a user name, ok., that's fine, I can use first 8 chars of the domain. as for html data path: I thought I'd make a tree in /home for each domain using full domain name as: /home/adomain.com.au /home/another.com and so on; then, make 'www' directories below each, and, point Apache virtual hosting path for each user to there.. /home/adomain.com.au/www /home/another.com/www is that a reasonable idea in the *nix scheme of things ? what should I use for FTPd for users, I do NOT need anonymous ftp access Voytek Eymont SBT Information Systems Pty Ltd http://www.sbt.net.au/links/ phone +61-2 9310-1144 fax +61-2 9310-1118 Checked for Virus's by Asoft -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
