Yes, it is. When you mount a CD, it is still read-only... there is no
provision for treating a CD as a writable filesystem.. to write to them, you
need to use a CD burner program.

There may be something a little like directCD, but I haven't seen it yet,
and it would still not change the way you mount the CDs
