G'day all...

I'm using a Mandrake 8.2 (Kernel 2.4.18) with Samba 2.2.3a as a primary domain controller, with MS Windows 2000 and XP as the client machines. I am using roaming profiles.

I'm having a few problems:

1. desktop.ini keeps showing up everywhere in users directories.
try turning off "show hidden files" in explorer maybe?

2. User's cannot change their passwords on the XP clients (unsure about 2000).
i have no info on that. but there's no apostrophe in Users. ;)

If users don't have shell accounts you could always change their shell to /bin/passwd in /etc/passwd and get them to use telnet.. I've done that before, it's messy but it works.

3. Having troubles with automatic script execution on clients. (However, I'm about to check smb.conf again.)
this could be related to the general problems that XP has logging into samba... i heard just the other day that you need to have your DNS allow updates from XP clients, or you need an Active Directory-enabled DNS, or something like that, for the logins to function properly and not take forever, as mine are doing at the moment....

cheers,
..S.
