I just spent an unproductive day at the School. The network appears to
be dodgey and not pulling data across very quickly from the internet.

My 'server' is now crashing like crazy it takes a few hours to crash and
a hardware reset brings it back to life. I just ran it on the desktop
with a screen and it got a VFS error with 8192 not enough something. I
looked and there were 200 odd nmbd clients so I killed them before I
left (why would I be getting them?). ssh dies and will not accept
connections so hardware reset is my fix at present.

The squid proxy does not appear to want to get data from the internet,
it is very very slow. I left a script running with apt-get upgrage -y
and sleep 600 then repeat running to hopefully get the cache updated
overnight. The new computer I have apt-get install -y xwindows, rsync,
and ssh. Hopefully I will have some data in the squid proxy when I get
back tomorrow morning.

Another day in paradise...
