These days LiteOn seem to make cheap-ish but decent equipment that plays well with Linux, probably because they use generic components. Sometimes cheaper *is* better... just recently there was an article on linuxhardware.org comparing several CD burners: Plextor IDE, Plextor SCSI and a LiteOn. LiteOn was the cheapest and the fastest, gave them no trouble whatsoever and was the overall winner of that contest. Their DVD player should be OK too. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "In the struggle of Good against Evil, it's always the people who get killed." -- Eduardo Galeano -- 8:20pm up 6 days, 6:29, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00-- -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
