Thanks for that, I did not use it cause there was ntohing anywhere to tell
me of its existence. The Readme file with the card sent me to that website
and that talked about the rtl8139 as did the original Readme file.

Have installed that and at least it comes up when I do a network restart.

Now on to my real issue OPtus Cable is coming tomorrow and hence the desire
for a second NIC.
I am currently connecting via dial-up using ppp, to get the cable connection
happening is this all I have to do?
(SOunds too easy)

configure the second NIC as DHCP
        - in which case how do I tell it not to get an IP from the existing
DHCP server on the server?

change my default route to the new NIC eth1

plug the new NIC into the cable modem

modify my firewall
