Thanks to all those who helped out. I have finally got access to my ADSL. Here is a quick tip to those of you who wish to get ADSL connection, and their ISP gives you outdated doco. (Yes my ISP gave me doco for only windows mind you. but talks about the need of "using pppoe") Which is not the case.
After being sent down the garden path and sending fellow slug members, and also a few fellow employees down the same path. I have found that I have a bridging ADSL connection. eventually I found that I needed to install for my mandrake box dhcpcd into my system thus getting another default route ridding myself of the stupid messages Network is unreachable. from installing dhcp-client and dhcp-common. After all that crap I have real connection using ADSL now to routes and modifying the firewall. Thanks again.
