G'day all... I'm wanting to set up some automated tasks (backups) via crontab.
I found that root has an empty crontab, but /etc/crontab has things in it. (Mainly run-parts so that the cron.d directories run.) I editted /etc/crontab, and it had no effect - I take it I have to run crontab as a certain user to implement the changes. Which user's crontab is /etc/crontab, or what steps do I need to take to implement changes applied to /etc/crontab? Thanks... Mike --- Michael S. E.
