In redhat 8, the installation goes from

- transferring install image to hard drive
- setting up RPM transaction
- installing the packages
- configuring X

but my computer failed until the installing packages.
after read for reply, i try the installation text based (linux text)

/proc done
/dev/pts done
/mnt/source ymount failed (16)

You would be best to check the check box "dont configure X at this time"
or "skip X configuration" during the install. This give you a console
login after installation.

X configuration is probably the bigest problem when installing linux and
its a case of the older your video card the easier it will be.

Once you have linux installed you can use Xconfigurator, and then startx
