I would like to set up ssh for use with putty using public/private key pairs. Putty works fine using ssh and a userid/password combination so I recently generated a key pair with puttygen.
I am not clear about what directory to put the public key file in. Should it be /.ssh? Also, I believe the file should either be named authorized_keys or authorized_keys2. Not clear about that either. I am running Red Hat 7.1. I receive a message "Server has refused our key" when I try.
