G'day all...

Over the weekend, I installed a tape drive on our Mandrake 8.2 box. Since
then, I've had a few troubles.

Immediately after physical installation, the second hard drive in the
machine developed superblock errors. On the same day I had to do a hard
reset (after performing backups).

Now the tape drive doesn't respond. I insert a tape in the drive, wait for
it to go online, issue a command such as `restore -C -D /` or `mt fsf 1`
and the only response I get is: /dev/tape: Input/output error

/dev/tape is a symlink to /dev/nst0

Specifying the device to be /dev/st0 or /dev/nst0 doesn't make a
difference.

I'm betting any money that a soft reset of the machine would rectify
things, but isn't an option at the moment.

FWIW, I'm using:
mt-st-0.6-3mdk
rmt-0.4b25-1mdk

Any help, tips, pointers, etc, appreciated. (Also, please repond to me
directly as well as the list, as I'm subscribed at home - not at work
where I'm sending this from.)

TIA!

Mike
