********************************************************************* Ive been replacing the old PII Machines in the office (Win 98 Office 97 outlandish virus exporter etc) So my total cost now to change each PC is $986 for a Red Hat 8.0 machine P4 256DDR Intel Mobo 40 gig HDD GF 2 MX 64mb DVD/CD-RW. I rang IBM yesterday asked for a PC and just for fun IBM REP PC sorry we don't sell a machine without an operating system.. ME OK whats the list of operating systems. IBM REP Windows Windows and Windows ME Wow sparky thats a big range of OS's you, so you basically have a list in front of you and it has all these PC's with Windows on it and nothing else like lets see Linux.. IBM REP.pause as he thinks.......Yes ME Ooh so you expect me to pay for a machine with software I don't want.. IBM REP eeer Yes. ME good luck "click" Next 3 companies I rang were happy not to have to sell me a machine with Windows on it. PS Isn't it funny when someone rings you up and says "don't open an email Ive just sent you it has a virus in it"... Me ...oooh you mean this email let me open it Friend .ooh no your machine is now infected ME Really.....and what do I run as an OS. Friend (pause) Lin..Lin Linux..so now your going to tell me it hasn't infected your PC because you have Linux......your worse than my sister with her stupid Apple machine..I hate people like you ME so you sent the same email to your sister and she said the same Friend Yes she poked fun at me too Ive been calling everyone in my contacts list.. ME so what did we learn from this Friend ... you and my sister are both smartarse's ME so your going to format your hard disk and update huh Friend... No stuff that I'm getting an iMAC Me trying not to laugh but not succeeding . And so Unix marches on...
