You'd have a tough time playing hack/rogue on a real teletype. The answer is, I believe, adventure aka colossal cave aka advent aka dungeon, a direct linear ancestor of the classic text game zork. Takes me back! I used to sneak in to the computer labs at unsw late at night to play it on the pdp11's using my brothers account. Ah those were the days. Amazing how engrossed you can get with just text on a greenscreen accompanied by the occasional soft feep.
