You'd have a tough time playing hack/rogue on
a real teletype.

The answer is, I believe, adventure aka colossal cave
aka advent aka dungeon, a direct linear ancestor
of the classic text game zork.

Takes me back!  I used to sneak in to the computer
labs at unsw late at night to play it on the pdp11's
using my brothers account.

Ah those were the days.  Amazing how engrossed you
can get with just text on a greenscreen accompanied 
by the occasional soft feep.
